Good session on the twelve-bar blues in E — the shuffle is sitting much better and you have stopped rushing the turnaround. The one thing still breaking it up is your strumming hand: it stops dead every time you change chord, so the beat drops out for half a bar. We tried keeping it moving through the change even when it is not hitting the strings, and straight away it sounded like one piece of music instead of three.
What to practice
- The twelve bars with your strumming hand moving the whole time — mute the strings
with your left hand if you need to, the point is that the arm never stops.
- A7 to E7 on its own, eight times, counting out loud so you hear where the change
actually lands.
- The whole thing with the backing track at 80, twice through. Stop while it still
sounds good.

What changes
Six lessons used to mean six write-ups, or none. Now it is one email at the end of the day: read six drafts, send the batch, done before the kettle boils.
Most of what you say disappears the moment the lesson ends. In writing it is still there on Wednesday when they sit down, so they work on what you actually asked for — and a run of lessons becomes a record of how far they have come, which is what keeps someone booking the next one.
Every lesson also leaves a private note only you ever see — what they struggled with, what to pick up again, what to prepare. It sits on their page, so the minute before a lesson you are reading last week rather than trying to remember it.

Right hand stops on every change; fixed it today but it will come back, so check it first thing. He has been on this one about a month and is starting to lose interest — better to move on next week even if it is not clean. Bring the slower backing track.
